Jane's Boats
For those of you of a more adventurous nature, Jane's Boats can offer a trip up the Gambia river from Denton Bridge at the coast to Basse toward the far eastern end of the country of Gambia. You will sleep under the stars on-board (with the protection of a mosquito net).

This trip takes in almost the entirety of the country. Basse is the last large town on the river before it enters Senegal. It is Gambia's gateway to the African interior.

On our way their we call at a number of other interesting towns and villages for the chance to experience the lively goings on in the various up-river towns including Farafennie and Georgetown.

Georgetown, or Janjanburreh, is an island town and contains a number of relics of the slave trade. Here you may even see Hippos and crocs.

This trip can be tailor made for bird watching if needed with your own bird guide on-board.

The journey will take 8 to 10 days and all your food and accommodation is included in the price. We can also arrange accommodation for you on the coast for a day before and a few days after the trip to make your adventure holiday up to 14 nights and give you a sea side rest before your journey home.

Groups of 2 to 8 people can be accommodated, out of season (usually May). The cost will be according to numbers.
